Austin Engineering is a leading designer and manufacturer of customized dump truck bodies, buckets and ancillary products used in the mining industry. Austbore is a division of Austin Engineering based in Mackay, Queensland specializing in all facets of component manufacture, rebuild and refurbishment. Austbore offers all machining solutions, including on site line boring.

About the Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for experienced Machinists to join our Paget team on a full-time basis. This provides an unparalleled opportunity to become part of an energetic, well-respected, world-class company which has been in operation for over 30 years.

Responsibilities:
- Ensuring all activities are conducted in a safe and efficient manner.
- Applying your technical expertise and experience to ensure the final product meets Australian quality standards.
- Identifying opportunities for improved production techniques and liaising with workshop supervisors to promote improvements.
- Coaching and mentoring other staff including apprentices in the application of enhanced work techniques and trade skills to ensure greater productivity.
- Performing preventative and predictive maintenance on machinery to ensure efficient operation of our equipment.
- Troubleshooting and repairs to company equipment in line with manufacturers standards.
- Promoting a team working environment in line with Austin Core Values.
About You
The successful applicant will possess the following skills and experience:
- Minimum Cert III Trade Qualification in Fitting and Machining (essential)
- Minimum 1 year’s post-trade experience in complex computerized Machining Techniques would be advantageous.
- Extensive knowledge of capacity and capability with Lathe, Milling (both horizontal and vertical), Borers (both horizontal and vertical) and multi-tasking machines would be an advantage.
- Extensive knowledge in programming and operating Fanuc and or Mazak CNC controllers would be an advantage.
- Enhanced mechanical analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Previous industry experience in heavy steel manufacturing industry.
- Will have unrestricted working rights in Australia.
